Xiaomi’s latest flagship, the Mi 5, is an impressive device on paper, but when you look at the price it’s even better. When you can get a Snapdragon 820, 3GB of RAM, and great hardware, cameras, and even a fingerprint sensor for under $500, it’s impressive. In China, the Mi 5 is sold for the equivalent of about $265, but if you want it outside of the country, you’ll need to pay more, usually quite a lot more. However Gearbest is currently offering the Mi 5 for around $400 with free shipping just about anywhere in the world.
While yes, this isn’t quite as good a deal as the normal pricing, this is still a solid price for what this phone offers and with free shipping, it makes the pill a bit easier to swallow. This $400 price (or more accurately, $396) is only for the white model. The golden variant will run you $439 and the black model will cost $441.
For this model you’ll get a 5.15″ display at 1080p with a special 16-LED backlighting system which offers brightness up to 600 nits (just shy of Apple’s iPhone and just ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy S6). Xiaomi claims that this display is also 17% more power efficient than other panels out there. You’ll also be able to take advantage of Quick Charge 3.0 over the device’s USB C port.
