Engadget has today revealed that Huawei is making their way into the VR space with their own VR headset. The “Huawei VR” headset works quite a lot like the Samsung Gear VR. Simply slide in your compatible device and you’re good to go. Huawei VR comes in three different variants to fit the company’s recently launched P9 and P9 Plus, as well as the monstrous Mate 8. It’s worth noting that all three of these devices pack 1080p displays, so you won’t get the best viewing experience out there.
To improve their headset however, the company is including support for 360° audio. Simply use compatible content and a pair of headphones. The headset also features 20ms low latency and a 95° field-of-view. For comparison, the Samsung Gear VR features 96° and the Oculus Rift & HTC Vive with 110°. Huawei on the other hand does include an anti blue-light filter to protect your eyes. Huawei VR will also feature 4,000 free movies, 40 free games, and 500 panoramic scenes (350 images, 150 tours). The price and release date has not been announced, but we should hear more details in the near future.
