Motorola’s Moto G lineup is the company’s best selling smartphone line ever, and now we’re at version number 4. Today Motorola, well, Lenovo, has announced the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus on stage in India. The new devices will begin to hit the market next month in India, but we don’t know when they’ll be coming to other regions. For now, let’s go over the specs on each.
Both variants look similar featuring a somewhat familiar design from previous Moto G smartphones, but refined a bit more this time around. On both devices you’ll find a 5.5″ 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 3 and under the hood you’ll find a Snapdragon 617 processor, 16/32/64GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot for expansion) and 2/3/4GB of RAM.The Moto G4 will feature a 13MP rear camera while the Moto G4 Plus will have a 16MP shooter. Both will have 5MP front facing cameras however along with Fast Charging available with their 3,000 mAh batteries inside.
The G4 Plus also features a fingerprint sensor on the front that doesn’t double as a button. On-screen navigation will still be the preferred option for these devices.
Lenovo has also decided to stick with Motorola’s software scheme on these devices, offerings a bloat-free near AOSP look and feel. Both devices are of course running atop Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow but unlike with previous releases, we don’t have a promise that upgrades will be coming.
Motorola Lenovo has not announced pricing on the standard Moto G4, but they have confirmed those details will be coming soon. The Moto G4 Plus on the other hand will go on sale next month starting at Rs. 13499 (about $200) for the 16GB/2GB variant and Rs. 14499 (about $225) for the 32GB/3GB variant. It will be for sale exclusively through Amazon India soon.
