Will KitKat Finally Bring a New Stock Messaging App To Android?

Android has changed dramatically over the past few years, but the messaging app hasn’t changed much at all. The phone dialer got a massive overhaul in Ice Cream Sandwich, but it hasn’t changed much since then. Their icons have barely changed too. It looks like that might change on the release of KitKat though. As you can seen in the screenshots below, both the messaging and phone apps look to have been given a massive overhaul. Functionality doesn’t look like it will be any different, but they look great. If you noticed it seems like the notification bar might actually change color depending on the app you are in. This looks great and I can’t wait for the KitKat release! Rumors are pointing to a mid October release for both KitKat and the Nexus 5. Are you looking forward to it? Let me know in the comments!
