Acer today announced the successor to their C7 Chromebook and removed many of the flaws that plagued the original. The new Chromebook will also be the first Chromebook to include Intel’s new Haswell chip. This is going to bring some very good battery life to the device. Acer claims up to 8.5 hours out of the device. Removed in the new model is also the large HDD replaced with a 16GB SSD. All of this is paired with 4GB of RAM in a slimmer and light package. The screen remains at 11.6 inches at a resolution of 1366×768.
The biggest selling point of this Chromebook is it’s price. Competing directly with Samsung’s Chromebook and undercutting HP’s recently released Chromebook 11, the Acer C720 is priced at only $250. Pre-orders are set to go live at both Best Buy and Amazon soon. No word is yet available on Google Play availability. Acer also says that additional configurations will be available soon.
