Microsoft is currently planning to launch official Remote Desktop apps for both iOS and Android later this month. Similar to the functions you would find in the Windows and OS X remote desktop solutions, you will soon be able to control your PC or Mac from your smartphone or tablet.

Microsoft currently has the app available on Windows RT tablets, but this is the first time they have brought the software to rival platforms.

The Android version is expected to bring support to both phones and tablets running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and above. The iOS version is expected to support both iPhones, iPads, and even the iPod Touch running iOS 6 or iOS 7.

No specific release date was given. Microsoft says that it’s coming “later this month”.
