A new software update now available for the NVIDIA Shield brings users the latest Android version 4.3 along with increased games support. NVIDIA claims that the number of new games supported is in the thousands. The update also brings a new “console mode” which allows users to play games on a TV. This new mode will however require a bluetooth controller such as the Nyko Playpad Pro. Another added feature is Gamepad Mapper mode which allows a user to map touchscreen controls to the gamepad. The update also brings the long-awaited ability to move app files to the SD card thus freeing up space on the device’s internal memory.
