Google recently invited their Glass explorers to swap out there old hardware for a brand new pair, free of charge, and now we know what’s new in the update. In a post on Google+, the Glass team shows off a slightly modified pair of Glass that includes a removable earbud. The new hardware refresh will also support prescription lenses later this year. Members of the Explorer program also now have the ability to invite up to three friends to join the program, but unfortunately the cost still remains at $1,500.
This all comes as Google is ramping up production of Glass and could possibly be building a showroom for the product in the San Francisco Bay. Glass is speculated to be a retail product by sometime next year, possibly at Google I/O, but a date is completely unknown according to members of the Glass team in an interview with Alex from iTechTriad.
