Nintendo’s flagship handheld device, the 3DS, is about to get a massive software update next month. It will include several new features from the Wii U including Miiverse and a combined service to combine your funds across the 3DS and Wii U. Once the update goes live all you need to do is sign up for a username on both systems and you will be able to merge funds across the two. Unfortunately there is still no word on whether or not this new update will let you recover software purchased on a 3DS if your system breaks or is lost.

Alongside the update the 3DS will gain an official YouTube app. The Wi U’s YouTube app will also receive an overhaul.
