The all-new PlayStation 4 just launched on Friday in just the U.S. and Canada and Sony now claims that they sold over 1 million consoles in the first 24 hours. “We are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” says Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. “Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29.” These sales make the PS4 the fastest selling Sony console ever. It’s very possible that the PS4 could overtake total Wii U sales (3.91 million) by the end of the year. With a successful launch the PS4 will have to fight off Microsoft’s Xbox One for it’s share of the holiday market.
