It looks like the end is upon us. After a soak test showed yesterday that KitKat was in testing for Verizon’s Moto X, Motorola has apparently decided to simply start rolling out the update to the Verizon variant of the Moto X. The update will roll out in phases beginning today. Motorola says that news on the update for other carriers will be announced “very soon”.

This is actually a really big deal as not even Google has rolled out the KitKat update for it’s loyal Nexus army. As of right now, the only device officially running KitKat is the Nexus 5. What shocks us even more is that Verizon actually approved the update without pushing it aside for months (ehm, Galaxy Nexus) first. If you do have the Verizon Moto X definitely keep an eye out for your official OTA update (I cannot believe I actually just typed that). But seriously, enjoy the new features KitKat brings including the improved dialer, integrated SMS, and much more.
