Just like it’s Android friends, Chromebook are about to get the famous “OK Google” hotword to initiate a search or open an app. On Android you either need to be in Google Now, or in the case of the Nexus 5 on the home screen to be able to use this function. On Chromebooks this command will be available whenever you are using the device and it will open the app launcher and then you can you voice actions to complete selected tasks. Google has even taken it a step further by adding a new plugin to make the feature work offline.

If you are on the Chrome OS Dev channel you can enable the flag chrome://flags/#enable-app-launcher-start-page in order to use this new feature now. Simpy say “OK Google” and enjoy!
