[Report] Samsung Considering Updating Several Budget Phones To Android 4.4 KitKat
Android 4.4 KitKat was designed with less powerful devices in mind, and you would think that companies like LG, Samsung, and HTC would jump on that right away to make their low-end devices sell better, but you would be wrong. It seems however that Samsung might be preparing to be the first to take advantage of KitKat as they are, according to reports, considering to update several of their low-end smartphones to the latest flavor of Android. A full list of the devices are below but keep in mind that this is only based on leaks and rumors. Nothing is official as of the time of writing this article as Samsung has not announced anything.
The list of devices is surprisingly long and will no doubt make the owners of these handsets extremely happy. Hopefully if these updates do come to reality, the owners of these phones will know what a system update is as they probably haven’t ever gotten one.
Of all of the devices on the list the Galaxy S4 Mini is the most likely to get the update as Samsung will have to seriously scale down and optimize their TouchWiz skin in order to match Google’s efforts to optimize the OS. We can only hope that Samsung will update these phones in a miracle effort to improve the performance of those devices.
List of devices:
– Galaxy S4 Mini
– Galaxy S3 Mini
– Galaxy S Advance
– Galaxy Ace 3
– Galaxy Core
– Galaxy Fame
– Galaxy Fresh
More devices are expected to be on the list shown above but this is all that we can see. If you know someone with one of these devices be sure to share this article with them!
