HTC had a hit on it’s hands this year with their HTC One smartphone. Made completely out of metal with a gorgeous design, excellent build quality, and awesome specs, the HTC One was the favorite phone of 2013 for many people. Now HTC looks to top it with the next version of the device. Rumors have been flying everywhere about the device, so let’s put them all together.
First of all. We know what the device will probably look like thanks to the 3D model shown off in the image below. Keeping a similar design to the current model, the next HTC One will keep the unmatched front-facing speakers, and bring a dual-LED flash, and hopefully an improved button layout. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but it looks like the handset will keep the power button up on top, but the capacitive hardware keys may have been transitioned into software keys as no cut outs have been made. The device is also expected to be called the HTC One+, and much better name than the HTC One 2 if you ask me.
On the software side the new device is expected to bring Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with the Sense 6 skin over top. Powering that software will be 2GB of DDR3 RAM and the all-new and very powerful Snapdragon 805 processor. This should provide for a very nice user experience if HTC doesn’t go too crazy with their skin. The display size will most likely increase to 5 inches and HTC seems to be heading for on-screen buttons like on the Nexus 5, Moto X, and LG G2. Virtual buttons are becoming more prevalent which makes some people (myself included) glad, but other prefer hardware keys. This also looks to be powered by a 2,900 mAh battery which should easily bring all-day battery life. A microSD card slot is also expected.
One of the most notable features of the current HTC One is the camera. It is easily the best on any smartphone currently on the market thanks to HTC’s choice of including an UltraPixel camera in the phone. Rumors right now point to an improved version of the current 4MP UltraPixel camera bringing it up to 6 or 8MP while keeping the UltraPixel technology. Other rumors suggest that HTC will opt for a dual lens camera that could bring increased dynamic range and further improved picture quality.
While we wait eagerly for HTC to announce this phone, we can drool over the rumored spec list below and hope that it is available on our carrier right away. That’s right, I’m looking at you Verizon…
