Many 7 inch and even 10 inch tablets have made the jump to mobile carriers with the addition of a SIM card, some even bringing phone capabilities. But what about a phone turning into a tablet? Sony might be the first to try that with new leaks showing a Wifi only variant of their Xperia Z Ultra phablet. The device still packs a Snapdragon 800 processor with radios that normally appear on WiFi only devices. A leaked photo of the device (shown above) shows the device half submerged in water proving it to be waterproof just like before. It still packs 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, microSD support, a massive 3,000 mAh battery and an 8MP camera. The device is still not official, without release date or price. If it does release it will most likely have to heavily compete with the 7 inch tablet market which includes heavy weights like the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab 7. To do that the device would need to retail at or around $200, less than 1/4 its off-contract price as a smartphone.
