Talk has been going around that Apple wants to use sapphire glass, an almost unbreakable glass.
This theory has almost been confirmed by an email Apple has sent out to US Foreign Trade Zone officials. Because we know that though another plant somewhere is ready to start supplying this glass, the email points to this option as the most likely subject of the email.
Recently Tim Cook himself confirmed that Apple was ready to start using this glass for it’s main iPhone screens through ABC News.
Sources are confirming that a patent was being considered for Apple to maybe start using this glass for bigger reasons. Instead of only using it for the camera lens, it could also be used to further protect the full iPhone screen.
“This high-tech manufacturing process will create a critical new sub-component of Apple Products to be used in the manufacture of the consumer electronics that will be imported and then sold globally. By pulling this process into the U.S., Apple will be using cutting edge, new technology to enhance and improve the consumer products, making them best in class per product type.”
