Along with Android 4.4 KitKat, came the release of the all new “Android Runtime” or ART. ART was an option in the developer options on the new OS that allowed you to switch your runtime from the traditional Dalvik to ART. It wasn’t set by default and wasn’t the easiest thing to find. According to some recent additions to AOSP, ART may be turned on by default.

ART does bring a bit more speed to the OS and in most cases, better battery life. It’s unclear on whether or not Google will actually set ART to default since some apps had problems with it at first. What do you think about ART being set by default on the next Android version?
