Towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year, we have been seeing a lot of companies get into the “Wearable Tech” industry. We’ve seen the Gear come to life and now the Pebble shine in it’s glory. But is it time we see HTC try it’s hand at a Smartwatch?

An interview conducted on Tuesday confirms that HTC is definitely looking into it. They say that they aren’t sure whether now is the right time or if they should wait until they pick up as a company. The Chairwoman of HTC, Cher Wang, informed reporters that the company wanted to put put something out by the end of this year.

“Many years ago we started looking at smartwatches and wearables, but we believe that we really have to solve the battery problems and the LCD light problems.”

HTC has been struggling to stay above the water since last year. With their market share declining, they need to do something fast but efficiently. What are they trying to do to solve that problem? Well, recently they have been focusing on innovation and actually developing products.

If they pull this off, they would have to compete with many of the companies already putting out wearable tech. This would include Samsung, Pebble, and possibly Apple according to the rumors we have been hearing for a while.

No specs about this product in development have floated up yet. The company is most likely going to be working on this for a while. In order to bring positive feedback, the new device would have to be significantly better than anything out now.
