HTC promised shortly after the initial release of Android 4.4 KitKat that their flagship phone, the HTC One, would receive the update within 90 days. In a way they lived up to that promise by submitting the update to carriers during that time period, but carriers of course delayed the process. Sprint’s HTC One started receiving the update last week, and now Verizon is coming up to the plate.
HTC product manager Mo Versi announced today on Twitter that they received technical approval from Verizon for the update and that it would be rolling out soon. The update brings Android 4.4 KitKat to the phone along with some notable improvements to Blinkfeed.
Verizon has not, at this time, announced the update, so it’s unknown when the update will begin rolling out. Since the update has been approved, HTC and Verizon will probably roll it out within the next couple weeks.
HTC One Verizon Owners! We have received technical approval for the OS 4.4 + Sense 5.5 update today. Expect the OTA out shortly. Thanks!
