There have been several leaks regarding Sony’s upcoming flagship, the Xperia Z2 but now a 12 minute video has surface showing off the device in detail along with many of the software features on board.
The device is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat on-board with Sony’s skin on top. Sony has however added several new features to the skin with several seen in other handsets. One of these is the “KnockOn” feature seen in the latest LG flagships. Sony dubs it Tap to Wake up. Another added feature is called Smart backlight control and functions similarly to Samsung’s SmartStay allowing the display to stay on and fully lit when the phone detects that the user is looking at it. Several more of the other new features are shown in the video down below.
Although this is not the final build that we will see on the Xperia Z2 at release, this gives us an idea of what to see from the device upon release. Sony’s latest releases have come to great reviews and we hope that the Z2 will be no different.

On to tablet news however Sony’s upcoming Xperia Z2 tablet has been leaked showing some impressive specs. @evleaks today posted a spec list for the upcoming tablet which includes a 10.1″ Triluminos display at a resolution of 1920×1200. That is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3 GHz along with 3GB of RAM and a 6,000 mAh battery. Storage wise the tablet has 16GB of internal storage and the option for a microSD card. For camera’s Sony will include an 8MP rear shooter and 2MP front facing shooter. The device will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat and like Sony’s other mobile devices, be waterproof. The device will also be an incredible 6.4mm thin.
