Recently the hugely advertised Fitbit Fitness Band was issued a recall to refund all customers if they so choose. Why?

Well people have been recently complaining that the band leaves a rash on their skin after wearing it for a certain amount of time. The band is supposed to be left on for every minute of the day, including sleep. After some research by the company, they found that the device actually causes something called allergic contact dermatitis. This occurs when something makes contact with skin and turns it into a rash and turns the skin red.

While only a small percentage of Force users have reported any issue, we care about every one of our customers. We have stopped selling Force and are in the process of conducting a voluntary recall, out of an abundance of caution. We are also offering a refund directly to consumers for full retail price.

Everyone was very excited by the device and many reviews were extremely positive. This is a stumbling block for Fitbit because they have to refund all devices that cause this issue on people. They said that it could be the nickel inside the metal used for the band. Nickel is used to create the band along with some other metals. These traces of nickel are very faint, though.

The company won’t be letting this stop them. They still have some big plans for the future in mind with their new trackers and updated Fitness Band. Let’s hope they fix it and redistribute it back to the loyal customers that began showing signs of this reaction.
