When you think of wearable technology, what do you imagine in your head? Maybe Google Glass or possibly the Pebble Smart Watch? What if I told you it goes far beyond that. What if I told you that the wearables that are soon to come are ones that are not seen on a person at first.
Sundar Pichai has that vision. He sat down with SXSW to talk about what his Chrome and Android teams are working on in terms of wearable tech. These wearables are not what you think. They aren’t something you can wear on your wrist or on your head. This technology is small enough to be placed inside clothing as a sensor to gather data.
Now Google isn’t exactly moving forward with this just yet. Mr. Pichai says that they want to first release an SDK just to see what developers have in mind for these sensors. They might be put into clothing or existing watches to gather such data as possibly health conditions, not unlike the Wello Case by Azoi. That SDK will be available in two weeks.
Once again it’s up to you, developers. Let’s see what you can put down on the table to better this technology. Make us proud.
