We’ve wanted it for a long time, and today it’s official. Microsoft Office is coming to the iPad. Microsoft’s famous productivity suite is coming to the iPad with a full touch optimized interface. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are going live in the App Store today with more possibly coming in the future.

The apps will all be free, but you’ll need a Microsoft Office 365 subscription if you really want to do anything with them. When downloaded the apps can view .docx, .pptx, and .xlsx files but editing does require a Microsoft 365 subscription.

Now we just wonder if it will ever come to Android…
