Twitter Rolling Out New Profile Pages For The Web – Introduces “Pinned Tweets”
Twitter has a history of changing their web interface, and today their introducing yet another new one that closely resembles Facebook and Google+. This comes after a major refresh earlier this year. The update only applies to the profile page.
The new design has an improved appearance that brings a larger profile picture, customizable header, and new interface for tweets, followers, and even a separate tab for tweets containing photos or videos. The updates to the header image will probably require most users to add new header pictures.
A welcome new feature is the addition of pinned tweets. This feature enables users to show a tweet directly on their profile page where it’s easy to see. Unfortunately it’s not permanent as it will move the tweet down as you publish new ones. This feature will probably be most useful for showing older tweets again.
Another notable feature is that on your profile page each tweet is a different size based on the amount of engagement. This makes it easier for your followers to interact with your most popular tweets.
The update is rolling out now to all users. Go check out your profile now to see if you’ve gotten it yet!
