Microsoft has just sent out invites to a Surface related event on May 20th and we’re expecting the company to unveil the Surface Mini, an 8 inch younger brother to the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2. Granted that screen size isn’t the only difference we will see.
Along with the smaller screen, a new Snapdragon processor (most likely Snapdragon 800 or 801) will be found inside the device unlike the NVIDIA processor in the Surface 2. The device is reportedly intended for note-takers so it will most likely ship with a full version of Microsoft Office pre-installed. A price point in unknown but can be estimated to be around $300 based on the price of the current Surface tablets.
The event is scheduled to take place at 11AM EDT/8AM PDT. Invitations sent out further emphasize that we will indeed see the Surface Mini as it puts heavy emphasis on the word “small”.
