Galaxy S5 And Note 3 On T-Mobile Receiving Update To Support VoLTE

Well it looks like the update palooza is continuing today as T-Mobile is also pushing out a few updates of it’s own this afternoon. Yesterday T-Mobile had it’s big Uncarrier event where one of the topics was it’s VoLTE network, today they have a follow up to that discussion, updates. Both the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 are receiving an update this afternoon that will allow the devices to jump onto T-Mobile’s expanding VoLTE network.

So what exactly is VoLTE? VoLTE stands for Voice over LTE and it essentially harnesses LTE data and combines it with traditional voice services used when you make a call. What this does is give you a much better call experience by having better sounding HD calls. VoLTE calls are also much less likely to be “dropped”. There is one thing to take note of though, you have to live in an area of the US where T-Mobile’s VoLTE network is currently at, below is a list of those places:

  • Atlanta
  • Austin
  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • Houston
  • Long Island
  • Los Angeles
  • Minneapolis
  • New England
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Philadelphia
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Washington D.C.

If you own either one of these devices on T-Mobile then be sure to smash that update button and start placing some super-clear HD calls!
