If you live in Europe and were waiting to get your hands on the OnePlus One, than you have a little longer to wait. While in other countries the device is beginning to ship to customers, buyers in Europe have a bit longer to hang on til their device is in their hands. Why the delay? It’s actually pretty hilarious and sad at the same time.
In short, it’s a problem with the regulatory markings on the device not meeting the standards found in the EU. Normally a device is required to have the “CE” logo to pass through customs, and while the OnePlus One does indeed have that, it didn’t quite work out as planned. According to OnePlus they decided to slightly alter the appearance of the markings to match up with other logos found on the device. This didn’t sit too well with customs, and the companies shipment was sent back. The thing that makes this even more hilarious is that OnePlus really had no reason to make this change in the first place.
This issue with customs will delay the device coming to the EU for another two weeks while the logos are fixed. If you purchased a OnePlus One and are affected by this issue, you can request a full refund of the device. If you choose to keep the device and wait, OnePlus will include a free screen protector and cover for the device.
