Chromebooks have been gaining steam constantly coming up to about 1.8 million shipments worldwide between April & June of 2014. Acer saw the biggest growth, but the really impressive part is that they also became the most popular Chrome OS manufacturer. That growth brought Chromebook shipments to be one-third Acer models.
This brings them about 6% over Samsung’s shipments, the first time that shift has happened. This is almost no doubt caused by the success of the Acer C720 Chromebook which brings high power at low cost. Acer sits at 30% of Chromebook shipments while Samsung sits behind at 24%. HP follows closely behind at 21%. Industry insiders are predicting that global Chromebook shipments will continue to rise this year.
