Azure Striker Gunvolt Gets Its NA Release Date, And It’s Sooner Than You Think
Back when Azure Striker Gunvolt was shown off at BitSummit in Japan, the developer Inti Creates said that the game would also see an English release this summer. Since then, the game has been confirmed to be released in Japan on August 20th. As for North America, the date was a little less certain since Inti Creates has never independently published here before.
Luckily, Inti Creates has now confirmed through the official English Twitter account that Azure Striker Gunvolt will be coming out in North America on August 29th, a little over a week after its upcoming Japan release. The game will also cost $14.99 through the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
For those who don’t know of need a refresher, Azure Striker Gunvolt is a 2D side-scrolling action game in the vein of Megaman Zero. This also makes sense since Inti Creates also developed the Megaman Zero series. They also are co-developers for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Mighty No. 9.
The protagonist is Gunvolt, a psychic boy with the ability to control lightning. He is also a member of QUILL, a resistance force fighting to remove the Sumeragi Group. The game starts out with Gunvolt assigned to assassinate a virtual pop star, but becomes complicated when Gunvolt learns her true identity.
Plenty of other characters and bosses have been updated through the official site if you want to get a better look. Personally, I wasn’t very interested at first, but my interest grows the more I see of this game. As a new fan of the genre, I can see the potential here, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
