Similar to Google, Mozilla is planning to release a streaming stick that works pretty much exactly the same as Google’s own Chromecast. That means that it also works with apps that use Google’s cast functionality, which now includes Firefox for Android.
The new functionality gives users the option to cast embedded videos on a page to a nearby Chromecast. Sound familiar? That’s probably because Google baked this same functionality into Chrome for Android a couple months ago. Nonetheless it’s still great to see Firefox get this option. For the time being it’s only available through nightlies so you’ll have to sideload it from Mozilla’s website.
