After months of rumors of Google acquiring the popular livestreaming service Twitch, Amazon has kicked those rumors out the door by announcing that they had reached a deal to acquire the three year old company.
Twitch’s official statement mentions that the two companies “share the same values and long-term vision”. Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, also said that “Like Twitch, we obsess over customers and like to think differently, and we look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community.”
It’s unclear exactly what Amazon plans to do with Twitch, but nonetheless it will be exciting to see what happens. Are you excited? Dissapointed? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
