Samsung Officially Unveils The Galaxy Note 4 And Galaxy Note Edge

One of the most interesting products released each year is the next Galaxy Note. Samsung always has a trick up it’s sleeve with this device lineup, and this year was no different. Just a little while ago, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 4, a brand new phablet smartphone to add to their ever growing lineup of devices. So what’s new this year?

The Note 4 has a “new design”. What’s new with the design? Well, the back is still textured plastic, but the sides are metal. The glass on the front is curved to an extent which makes it much stronger. The phone weighs 176g and 8.5mm thin. It comes in four colors, black, white, gold, and pink. The software has been improved bringing many elements from the Galaxy S5, but we can hold our own opinions on that. The screen size hasn’t changed, but it’s resolution has. The Note 4 packs a Quad HD SuperAMOLED display that brings better colors, and claims to have better brightness than other Quad HD displays on the market. The phone has plenty of other great software features, but as usual, there are simply too many to cover in one space. The S Pen has also been enhanced with more software features that in short, make it perform more like a mouse rather than just your finger. You can select multiple lines of text to copy and more. The camera on the back is a 16MP camera with “Smart” OIS to back it up. The front has a 3.7MP camera with an F/1.9 aperture. Battery life has also been improved as well as charging speeds. You can charge your device from 0% to 50% in only 30min as opposed to 55min on the Note 3. This is similar to the OPPO Find 7’s fast charging. The battery is 3,220 mAh hours, a slight increase over the Note 3. Samsung claims the new internals will help make battery life much better. The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in October. The specs are available at the bottom of this page.

Next, let’s talk about the Galaxy Note Edge. What is the big deal? The Note Edge has a standard Quad HD display at 5.6″ inches, and an addition 160 pixel wide screen on the side the curves off to the side. Most of the same features from the Note 4 come over the Edge, but brings quite a few more as well. Most of these added features come from the Edge display. These including accessing recently opened apps, seeing notifications, and even parts of some apps.
