Never Settle. That is the infamous marketing slogan for the company known as OnePlus. They’ve had some interesting issues with their customer service and marketing, but there’s one thing you can’t say about them, that their phone isn’t amazing.
Over the past few days I have had the pleasure of using the OnePlus One and so far I’m amazed by the quality and sheer power of this device. Its really does a lot to offer in many areas. There are way to many for me to talk about here, so here’s my top 3.
The 5.5″ inch 1080p panel on the OnePlus One is just absolutely amazing. It’s very high quality and looks great. Colors are reproduced fairly accurate, perhaps a little on the cool side and viewing angles are simply amazing. Even when pitted against the LG G3, a Quad-HD behemoth, this display is amazing.
The OnePlus One runs CyanogenMod 11S out of the box, and the developers at Cyanogen never cease to amaze me. This build brings all of the best of CyanogenMod 11, and more. The theming engine has been especially impressive to me since this is the first phone I’ve been able to use it on. Other touches like the ability to use hardware or software navigation buttons is also great.
The battery on the OnePlus One has been especially impressive for me. At 3,100 mAh, I knew it would be good, but the real life results have been very impressive to me. On average my phone is used for a little over 15 hours, and I typically use it actively for about 2 hours. My best day so far included approximately 16 1/2 hours off the charger with about 3 hours of screen time. The OnePlus One had no trouble with that at all, and that included listening to about 4 hours of Spotify and 2-3 hours of gaming. Needless to say, on a lighter day, the OnePlus One will go beyond your requirements.
That’s my thoughts so far on the OnePlus One. Over the next couple of weeks stay tuned for more coverage of the OnePlus One including a battle against the LG G3 and a lengthy full review.
