I’ve been eagerly anticipating find out when the New 3DS and New 3DS XL will be heading our way next year. In the meantime, we’ve got some new 3DS XL models coming our way this fall.
Announced at Gamestop Expo 2014 were three new 3DS XL models set to release in the coming months. First up is the Smash Bros. 3DS XL, which will be released on September 19 ahead of the Super Smash Bros. for 3DS October release. This model will also be available in both red and blue.
These next two are confirmed to be Gamestop Exclusive. The first is an NES-style 3DS XL, which is coming out on October 10th and features the NES controller design on the system’s lid. The second is a Persona Q 3DS XL model, which will be launching alongside Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth on November 25th.
Each 3DS XL model is priced at $199.99. Unfortunately, neither the Smash Bros. 3DS nor the Persona Q 3DS come with copies of their respective games.
These designs are pretty good looking and may be worth it for those that haven’t picked up a 3DS yet, but as I said at the beginning of the article, the announcement of the New 3DS family overshadows this to me. I’m perfectly happy with my old and busted original 3DS, so the New 3DS is an upgrade I’m keeping my eye on.
