We’re all waiting for Microsoft to launch the next version of Windows, dubbed “Threshold” to launch, and we’ve all been calling it Windows 9. Today however Alain Crozier, president of Microsoft France, has become the first Microsoft executive to use the term “Windows 9” publicly. The statement was made during a live-stream press event.

Last year we had Windows 8. In the next few minutes, the next few days, we’ll be releasing Windows 9.

— Alain Crozier, President Microsoft France

He was likely referring to a September 30th press event Microsoft has planned which is expected to see the announcement of Windows 9. The name is yet to be proven, but Crozier’s mention of it proves that the company has toyed around with the branding.
