Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 ROM Released For Verizon LG G3

The LG G3 has proved to be one absolute beast of a phone and it’s gained the admiration of many reviewers and buyers. In fact, it’s the best selling smartphone LG has ever sold. As in the past, a popular phone quickly becomes a target of excited Android developers who want to crack the software open and make things their own. Root was achieved on many G3 models not too long after release and just a little while ago a group of developers figured out how to get the TWRP custom recovery on all G3 models. Once I saw TWRP’s arrival, I knew it was only a matter of time until the ROMs came, and now they’re finally coming.

Recognized XDA user and Android developer “invisiblek” has worked hard and the fruit of his labor has been the first unofficial CM11 ROM for the Verizon LG G3. Some CM11 ROMs exist for other LG G3 models such as the D855 model, but this is the first one to hit the Big Red. The ROM itself is still not done, but is stable enough for daily use. In fact I’ve been using it on my personal Verizon LG G3 with no major issues. Everything important seems to be working including phone calls, 3G and 4G LTE data. Both cameras work fine as well as sound and microphones. Bluetooth is also working for me as I do have my Moto 360 connected to the phone. Wireless charging is the only thing I find that does not work at the moment. While I find that annoying, I’m sure it will be fixed. GPS is reportedly not working quite right, but in my testing it’s worked perfectly fine.

To install this ROM head over to the original XDA page (link below) for installation instructions and downloads. It should go without saying but this does void your warranty and we (and the developer) are not responsible for any problems. If you follow the instructions however you should be fine. Definitely be sure to make a backup of the stock ROM and your stock kernel however. Happy flashing!
