How To Create A Custom Pushbullet Channel For Your Favorite Websites

Pushbullet is a powerful, and somehow free tool that many users, including myself, have become huge fans of. The ability to send files, links, and notes from device to device with ease is something I highly value with this tool. However the fun doesn’t stop there. Not long ago Pushbullet introduced a new feature called “channels”. This feature takes the power of an RSS feed and sends content to all of your devices instantly. Personally I use this feature to keep an eye on new posts here on iTechTriad and on a couple of my other favorite blogs. Here’s how I do it.

First, pull up Pushbullet on your computer by heading to pushbullet.com. I’m doing it in the Chrome browser on my PC. Once you’ve logged in with your Google account, you’ll see your list of connected devices and your most recent pushes. We’re going to head up to the top right corner and click on our profile picture.

From here hit the “My Channels” link. From here you’ll see any channels you’ve already created as well as the option to create a brand new one. For this example, I’ll be creating a Pushbullet channel to notify users whenever iTechTriad posts a new review.

To do this, you’ll need an active RSS feed. Before that, we’ll need to fill in the channel tag. This tag determines the URL of the channel. It cannot contain any spaces. For this example, we’ll be using “itechtriad-review” since “itechtriad” is already in use. Next, we’ll fill in the channel name. For this I’ll fill in “iTechTriad Reviews”. This is the title seen to the public as well as in Pushbullet notifications.

Next, add a description. This is optional, but is recommended. Next we need to fill in the RSS URL. The last step for this example is to add the filter word. Since I only want this channel to notify subscribers of new reviews, I’ll use the filter word “review”. The last option step is to add an image to the channel. Once you’ve got everything the way you want, hit save and start sharing the links to get subscribers.

That’s pretty much it! Let us know if this tutorial works for you and be sure to subscribe to our channels below!
