Telltale Games Partners With Mojang On Stand-Alone Title Minecraft: Story Mode

Telltale Games has been pretty busy over the past couple of years. Pulling from the success of the The Walking Dead Season 1, the company could be considered to be paving the way for episodic adventure games. After finishing The Walking Dead Season 2 and The Wolf Among Us, Telltale is working on Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands. Now, one more series is being added to the pot, and it’s something that I sure didn’t expect.

The Telltale Blog posted an update announcing that Telltale Games is partnering with Mojang to make an episodic series based on Minecraft called Minecraft: Story Mode. The series will be set in the world of Minecraft and will retain the Telltale gameplay style. Contrary to what the title may imply, Minecraft: Story Mode won’t be an add-on for the existing game, but rather will be a stand-alone title.

At this time, not much more is known about this title other than that Telltale Games plans on starting the Minecraft series in 2015 for “consoles, computers, and mobile devices”. It’ll be interesting to see how Telltale handles this. If you ask me, Minecraft may be a difficult game to try and break down narratively, but we’ll have to see.
