Canadian carrier Telus is currently planning internally for the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop on two HTC devices, the One M7 and One M8. While HTC did promise that users would start getting Android Lollipop on the M8 within 90 days of release, the M7 didn’t get the same deadline. However is does seem that Telus at least thinks the update is coming very soon as they mention that it is coming within the “next few weeks”.
We’ve seen a few leaks of what Android Lollipop may look like on the One M8, so it will be interesting to see if those leaks were true. We weren’t expecting the One M7 to be updated quite this quickly, but that doesn’t exactly mean we’re complaining.
Now don’t get too overly excited, take this all with a grain of salt. HTC states on their website that the One M8 on Telus is still in stage 2 development for Lollipop while the One M7 is still in stage 1 development. That does put a bit of a damper on things, but it’s still entirely possible that the update could hit.
