Dell and Intel Collaborate to Create the Dell Venue 8 7840

As some of you may remember, last year Dell made an announcement that they had begun work on a new tablet with Intel. Dell promised that said Tablet would contain high-end hardware in a smaller package. That exact tablet appears to finally be available through Best Buy starting today.

The Dell and Intel tablet is called the Dell Venue 8 7840 and it’s quite the little powerhouse. Its specs are as follows.

  • 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED display
  • Quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor at 2.3GHz
  • 16GB of storage
  • 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Android 4.4 KitKat

Sure these aren’t the best specs of any tablet on the market but they are up there. Then there is the Dell Venue 8s secret weapon, its built in “RealSense” technology. What is this you ask? RealSense utilizes two 720p cameras located just beneath the rear camera, these two extra cameras are capable of tracking both depth and 3D object tracking. This allows the user to get the distance between objects in photos as well as refocus images after they have been taken.

If you are interested in picking up a Dell Venue 8 7840 it will cost you $399 from Best Buy. You can take a look at the purchase page of the device via Best Buy’s website by clicking the source link below.
