It looks as though Apple has a pretty big new product in the pipeline, a completely new MacBook Air. Yes, you just read that correctly, Apple has a newly redesigned MacBook Air on the way. Not only is it redesigned but it’s also smaller than the current 13-inch MacBook Air, coming in at 12-inches. Also supposedly included is a bigger, higher-resolution display.
This leaked information comes from Mark Gurman over at 9to5Mac and it’s definitely enough to get any Apple fan excited. There have been rumors of a new MacBook Air for years now and if this turned out real we would finally be able to put all of those rumors to rest.
Now pay attention because we are about to get a little technical on you here. This supposed MacBook Air will be smaller than the 13-inch MacBook Air and also thinner than the 11-inch MacBook Air. It will be a quarter-of-an-inch narrower to be exact but at the same time it will be taller due to the bigger display. Continuing on, the keyboard is also ever-so-subtly different than the previous models. The new keyboard actually goes edge-to-edge and the keys are slightly closer together than on the current models.
Another big difference here with the new MacBook Air is the lack of ports. If this MacBook Air was to come fruition with this little ports it would have the fewest amount of any Apple computer. On the left side there is dual-microphones and a headphone jack, on the right side there is a single USB Type-C port and nothing else. Although the addition of a USB Type-C port is a pretty big deal as it is both faster and smaller than USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.
With such a small amount of ports on this supposed MacBook Air comes a new rumor to the rumor mill. Said rumor is that Apple will develop some sort of hub that will plug into the MacBook and have all sorts of ports. We will have to just see what happen but if something does happens it’s going to be soon.
