Wii Games Are Coming To Wii U eShop Starting Now With Super Mario Galaxy 2

Have you ever wished you could play your favorite Wii games on your Wii U? From time to time I have. I miss old favorites like Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy. From the start you’ve been able to play Wii games through the disc on the Wii U, but now you’ll also be able to download from the eShop.

This starts with three games, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Punch-Out, and Metroid Trilogy. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is available now while the latter two release on the 22nd and 29th of this month. All three games will be available for half-price for one week following their respective releases. That means that if you act fast, you can get Super Mario Galaxy 2 for just $10!!!

On a side note, the company also mentioned that these titles would support the Wii U gamepad which would act as the Wii’s classic controller. This is a huge step up over the usual game disc where classic Wii games cannot use the gamepad at all.

You’ll still be free to use discs for the foreseeable future, but this is a great option for those who prefer downloading their games.
