Over 1,800 Minecraft Usernames And Passwords Leak Online

If you enjoy playing the very popular game Minecraft on your PC, you’ll want to pay attention here. A plain text file has just been leaked online containing over 1,800 Minecraft account credentials. The leak was posted to Pastebin and allows anyone to get the username and password of any affected user to log in to that users account to use the game.

While that might not be the biggest concern, the leak is still troublesome if users use that same password on other services.

Quite how criminals managed to steal the credentials for so many Minecraft users isn’t clear. Possibilities range from simple phishing attacks, keylogging malware stealing players’ details as they log into the game, or even a security breach at Minecraft itself. (Let’s hope it’s not the last one – because the game has over 100 million registered users).”

”And although some 1800+ usernames and passwords have been published online, there’s no guarantee that whoever gained access to them hasn’t got a whole lot more in their back pocket which they haven’t chosen to release to the rest of the world.

— Graham Cluley, Security Researcher

At the moment, both Microsoft and Minecraft have not publicly acknowledged the leak. We highly recommend you change your password ASAP.
