The folks over at TmoNews have spotted a pretty special page on T-Mobiles website. Said webpage essentially lets customers know that T-Mobile will soon be updating both the Nexus 6 and Xperia Z3 so that they will support their 700MHz network band.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with all of this network talk, T-Mobile updating more devices to support their network 700MHz is actually quite a big deal. The 700MHz band is much better at penetrating buildings and walls than other network bands, it’s also easier to cover larger geographic areas with less towers using the 700MHz band. Both of these things mean that 700MHz is a great thing for any carrier to expand to their devices.
According to the webpage on T-Mobile, the Nexus 6 will receive the update in “Early 2015” and the Xperia Z3 in May. Right now the only devices on T-Mobiles network that are capable of taking advantage of their 700MHz band are the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. After the Nexus 6 and Xperia Z3 receive their updates to support it, it will be interesting to see which devices get updated to support it next.
