When it comes to business-focused group messaging services, Slack is arguably the best out there and you’d be hardpressed to find a better one. Now it looks like Slack is going to get even better with the recent acquisition of video and screen sharing service, Screenhero.
The Slack team has just posted on their official blog that over the next few months they will be integrating all of Screenheros useful features, including its newest ones. This means that in the very near future, Slack will allow users to share screens, make video calls, and last but not least, make voice calls. The Slack team is even being generous enough to let existing standard and Plus account Slack users use the Screenhero service for free until it is fully integrated into Slack.
This means that until Screenhero is fully integrated into Slack, the service will remain completely separate and usable. Once it is fully integrated into Slack, Screenhero as a separate service will be no more and users will have to come over to Slack if they want to use its features.
Acquiring Screenhero and all of its features is no doubt a big step forward for Slack as a service, it will greatly expand its capabilities as well as its user base. As Slack users we are glad to see Slack improving its already great service and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
