Google Wallet has never ever had a good relationship with carriers. In fact, most carriers went out of their way just to keep Google Wallet off devices on their network. However in a shocking move, that’s changing.
Thanks to their acquisition of Softcard, Google has struck a deal with carriers to pre-install the Google Wallet app on Android devices sold by the carrier. This will take effect later this year and while it’s not confirmed that all Android devices sold on these carriers will have this, it is expected.
Google has noted that the devices will need to be running Android KitKat or higher, but at this point very very few devices are running anything lower. Are you excited for this news? Let us know down in the comments!
