The Galaxy S6 is literally only days away from becoming official and to be honest, I’m pretty excited. The phone has a lot of potential to be an amazing phone and I’m really hoping for something incredible. There are hundreds of rumors around, but one I’m excited for is the fact that Samsung might finally be trimming down their TouchWiz skin, and according to the latest sources, they might trim it down even further than we thought.
Typically, Samsung phones are absolutely packed with Samsung apps and other bloatware, but according to new sources Samsung is looking to do away with just about all of that in the S6 and their future devices. These devices will come pre-loaded with just 3 Samsung applications.
SamMobile reports two apps, but technically there are three including the Galaxy Apps store. The other two apps are S Health and S Voice. While these might not be apps you need, these are apps that Samsung puts at a priority. But what about all the other Samsung apps?
Most of Samsung’s other apps will apparently be an optional download from Google Play and will also be updated there rather than through OTAs. Now let’s not forget that Google’s apps will still be installed along with Facebook and WhatsApp. Interestingly Samsung will also be packing in a handful of Microsoft applications. The full list of apps is below.
- S Voice
- S Health
- WhatsApp (download link)
- Microsoft One Drive
- Microsoft One Note
- All Google apps
- GALAXY APPS
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are being announced at MWC on March 1st so we don’t have long to wait to see what Samsung does end up doing.
