Softcard Closing Its Doors On March 31st – To Be Replaced By Google Wallet

Softcard, the NFC mobile payments system designed by carriers, is shutting down. After it was revealed that the company had been acquired by Google, it was only a matter of time until they closed their doors. The app will shut down on March 31st.

Google has signed a deal so Google Wallet will come pre-loaded on Android hardware in place of Softcard. The app will simply stop working after 3/31 and your account automatically closed. Softcard recommends that if you’d like to continue using a digital wallet, you should download Google Wallet.
