Less than a week before Apple’s latest event, Pebble released their latest product, the Pebble Time on Kickstarter. Quickly, almost in the blink of an eye, it became the most successful Kickstarter ever. The campaign still has weeks to go and it’s not slowing down. However there was one moment better than any others, the moment Apple announced pricing on the Apple Watch.
On the Sunday before the event, Pebble’s campaign was bringing in about $6,000 per hour. On March 10th, the day after the Apple Watch event, that number finally topped at $16,000 per hour. During the actual event funding hovered around $10,000 per hour.
I asked Eric what happened to the rate of Pebble's Kickstarter signups after the Apple Watch announcement. He said it doubled.

Pebble’s CEO Eric Migicovsky told investor Paul Graham the news. However it wasn’t unexpected. Pebble and everyone else knew that Apple’s event would not only raise awareness of the Apple Watch, but all smartwatches. Since the Pebble Time is one of the other options that support iOS, it’s not out of the question why so many people took the sudden interest. Pebble has already raised $18 million in funding for their latest generation of watches with a couple weeks left to go.
