It Looks Like Google Is Finally Letting Users Send Hangouts Messages Via Google Now

It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like Google has finally started letting users send messages through the Hangouts messaging service using Google Now. According to Droid Life, all you need to do is say “send a hangouts message” and it will then listen for the contact and the message. This isn’t just SMS, but actual Hangout conversations.

Now don’t get too excited, the functinality seems to be a server side roll out. To get it make sure your Google Search app is on version 4.2.16.87075793 and your Hangouts app is on 3.0.87531466. However since this is a server side update, odds are it won’t work right away.

While this is all great, what we’re really waiting for is this functinality on Android Wear. However it seems this update doesn’t do that, at least not right now. Hopefully since this update is coming through the pipeline, Android Wear support is right behind it.
